Buy Random Access Memory (RAM) in Nigeria

RAM which stands for Random Access Memory, is a volatile storage memory in the computer system where operating system, application programs, and programs that are currently in use are temporarily stored so as to be easily accessed by the computer processor. Comparing it to other storage memory in the system, it is easier for the processor to read from the RAM than any other storage memory. A random access memory allows data to be read from or written to in almost the same amount of time irrespective of the physical location of data inside the memory. It only works as long as the system is running, once you shutdown, it loses all the data stored in it. Anytime you boot your system, all necessary processes and operations are loaded in it. If you want your system to handle more tasks then you need a larger RAM size. The higher the RAM size, the faster your system works and also the more programs you can load in it. Should you realize your system freezes a lot, it is because your RAM is currently running more programs than it should, hence a need for an upgrade or close some of the programs.

RAM Buying Guide

It is not a big deal when you desire to shop for additional RAM size or which to replace your previous RAM as long as you know the type your PC or laptop is using. Below is a list that can help you decide which random access memory to purchase. There are basically two types of Random Access Memory (RAM) which are Static RAM (SRAM) and Dynamic RAM (DRAM).

SDRAM: They store a bit of data using the state of a six transistor memory cell. The SRAM is more expensive to produce than the DRAM. They are generally faster and requires less power than DRAM. In modern computers, they are often used as cache memory for the CPU.

DRAM: They stores a bit of data using a transistor and capacitor pair, which together comprises a DRAM memory cell. The capacitor holds a high or low charge and the transistor acts as a switch that lets the control circuitry on the chip read the capacitor's state of charge. DRAM are less expensive to produce than SRAM. They are mainly the computer memory used in modern computers.

DDR: This is known as Double Date Rate. They process information data and information on both the rising and falling edges of a clock cycle, which doubles the data throughput. DDR SDRAM chips are mounted on 184-pin DIMM modules and are typically available in 128 Mb to 1 GB capacity. They operate at bus speed up to 400MHz. DDR memory was later replaced by DDR2.

DDR 2: DDR2 has twice the latency of DDR and delivers data at twice the speed of DDR. They are the next generation of DDR memory. They are mounted on 240-pin DIMM modules, can operate at higher bus speeds and have a capacity to hold 256 Mb to 2 GB of memory. The DDR 2 was later replaced by the DDR 3.

DDR 3: Double data rate type three SDRAM is a type of synchronous dynamic random-access memory with a high bandwidth (double data rate) interface. It is the higher-speed successor to DDR and DDR2 and predecessor to DDR4 synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM) chips. DDR3 SDRAM is neither forward nor backward compatible with any earlier type of random-access memory (RAM) because of different signaling voltages, timings, and other factors.

DDR 4: DDR4 SDRAM is a fourth-generation synchronous dynamic random-access memory. It is a type of synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM) with a high bandwidth (double data rate) interface. It is one of the latest variants of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) and a higher-speed successor to the DDR2 and DDR3 technologies. It is not compatible with any earlier type of random access memory (RAM) due to different signaling voltages, physical interface and other factors.
